We provide a number of Urgent Care services throughout Halton, Knowsley, St Helens and Liverpool.

GP Out of Hours

Urgent Care 24 is the established local provider of Out of Hours Services to the residents of Halton, Knowsley and Liverpool, serving a patient population of around 850,000.  All patients received to the service are triaged by a GP over the phone.  A clinical decision is then made about the medical care each patient requires.

Our GP out-of-hours service has adapted well to the new integrated urgent care requirements and continues to evolve as a high quality, multi-disciplinary service.

Primary Care Streaming

Urgent Care 24 provides additional clinical support to all 3 acute hospitals in Liverpool, including Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, the Royal Liverpool Broadgreen University Hospital Trust and Aintree University Hospital.

We support the hospitals by providing a service for patients presenting with primary care needs in the Emergency Department, which helps to reduce the waiting time for patients. The service has been well received and supported by both commissioners and ED staff.

Pathfinder

We work closely with the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) to provide the Pathfinder service in Liverpool, Halton and Knowsley, where UC24 GPs provide clinical support.

This 24 hour service allows paramedics to get medical advice from a GP while they are with the patient.

GP Extended Access

UC24 provides ‘GP Extra’ appointments for Liverpool & St Helens patients to contact a clinician in the evening (up to 8pm) and over weekends. These services are provided from 4 sites in Liverpool and 4 in St Helens.
